Method
Cooking Instructions
- 1
Marinate Chicken
In a bowl, combine chicken breasts and buttermilk. Cover and refrigerate for at least 2 hours or overnight for best results.
- 2
Prepare the Breading
In a shallow dish, mix together flour, cayenne pepper, paprika, garlic powder, salt, and black pepper.
- 3
Heat Oil
In a large skillet, heat vegetable oil over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C).
- 4
Bread the Chicken
Remove chicken from buttermilk, allowing excess to drip off. Dredge in the flour mixture, pressing gently to adhere.
- 5
Fry the Chicken
Carefully place chicken in the hot oil. Fry for 6-8 minutes per side or until golden brown and cooked through. Remove and drain on paper towels.
- 6
Prepare Nashville Hot Oil
In a separate bowl, mix Nashville hot chicken oil with additional cayenne pepper if desired.
- 7
Assemble the Sandwich
Drizzle hot oil over fried chicken and place on a toasted brioche bun or grilled tortilla. Top with pepper jack cheese, mixed greens, pickled tomato, onion, and buffalo pickles.
- 8
Serve with Fries
Serve the Fried Hot Chicken with a side of crispy fries.
