Cooking Instructions

  1. 1

    Prepare the Marinade

In a mixing bowl, combine the soy sauce, brown sugar, minced garlic, minced ginger, sesame oil, red pepper flakes, and black pepper. Stir until the sugar is fully dissolved.

  2. 2

    Marinate the Pork

Cut the pork belly into 1-inch cubes and add it to the marinade. Ensure all pieces are well-coated. Cover and refrigerate for at least 1 hour, preferably overnight for better flavor.

  3. 3

    Prepare the Cooking Pot

In a large pot, add the marinated pork along with the marinade and water. Bring to a boil over medium-high heat.

  4. 4

    Simmer the Pork

Once boiling, reduce the heat to low and cover the pot. Let it simmer for about 1.5 to 2 hours, or until the pork is tender and the sauce is thickened, stirring occasionally.

  5. 5

    Add Green Onions

Chop the green onions and add them to the pot during the last 10 minutes of cooking. Stir well.

  6. 6

    Serve

Once cooked, remove from heat and let it rest for a few minutes. Serve the Jeong hot, garnished with additional green onions if desired.
