Hot Chicken Sandwich Ingredients

Method

Hot Chicken Sandwich Directions

  1. 1

    Prepare the Marinade

In a large bowl, mix together the buttermilk, hot sauce, cayenne pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and black pepper. This will be your marinade for the chicken.

  2. 2

    Marinate the Chicken

Add the chicken breasts to the marinade, ensuring they are fully submerged. Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 1 hour, or overnight for best results.

  3. 3

    Prepare the Coating

In another bowl, combine the all-purpose flour with salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder. Mix well to combine.

  4. 4

    Heat the Oil

In a large skillet, pour in the vegetable oil and heat over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C). You can test the oil by dropping a small amount of flour mixture into it; if it sizzles, the oil is ready.

  5. 5

    Coat the Chicken

Remove the chicken from the marinade, allowing excess marinade to drip off. Dredge each chicken breast in the flour mixture, ensuring they are well-coated on all sides.

  6. 6

    Fry the Chicken

Carefully place the coated chicken breasts into the hot oil. Fry for about 5-7 minutes on each side, or until they are golden brown and cooked through. Use a meat thermometer to ensure they reach an internal temperature of 165°F (75°C).

  7. 7

    Drain the Chicken

Once cooked, remove the chicken from the skillet and place it on a plate lined with paper towels to drain excess oil.

  8. 8

    Assemble the Sandwiches

To assemble, place a piece of fried chicken on the bottom half of each burger bun. Top with shredded lettuce, sliced tomatoes, and pickles. Place the top half of the bun on each sandwich.

  9. 9

    Serve

Serve the hot chicken sandwiches immediately while they are crispy and warm. Enjoy!
