Method

Preparing the Burger Patty

  1. 1

    Mix the Ingredients

In a mixing bowl, combine the ground beef, salt, black pepper, and garlic powder. Mix gently until just combined to avoid overworking the meat.

  2. 2

    Form the Patties

Divide the beef mixture into two equal portions and shape each portion into a patty, about ¾ inch thick. Make a slight indentation in the center of each patty to help them cook evenly.

Cooking the Burger

  1. 3

    Preheat the Grill or Pan

Preheat your grill or a skillet over medium-high heat for about 5 minutes.

  2. 4

    Cook the Patties

Place the patties on the grill or skillet. Cook for about 4-5 minutes on one side, then flip and cook for another 3-4 minutes, or until the internal temperature reaches 160°F (71°C). If using cheese, place a slice on each patty during the last minute of cooking to melt.

Preparing the Toppings

  1. 5

    Slice the Vegetables

While the burgers are cooking, wash and slice the tomato and onion. Tear the lettuce leaves if they are large.

Assembling the Burger

  1. 6

    Prepare the Buns

Toast the burger buns on the grill or in a toaster until lightly golden.

  2. 7

    Build the Burger

On the bottom half of each bun, place a lettuce leaf, followed by the cooked beef patty, sliced tomato, and onion. Add ketchup and mustard if desired. Top with the other half of the bun.
