Mac & Cheese Ingredients

Method

Cooking Directions

  1. 1

    Cook the Pasta

In a large pot of salted boiling water, cook the elbow macaroni according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.

  2. 2

    Make the Cheese Sauce

In the same pot, melt the butter over medium heat. Stir in the flour and cook for about 1 minute until bubbly. Gradually whisk in the milk, ensuring there are no lumps. Continue to cook until the mixture thickens, about 5 minutes.

  3. 3

    Add Cheeses and Seasoning

Remove the pot from heat and stir in the sharp aged cheddar cheese, salt, black pepper, mustard powder, and paprika until the cheese is melted and the sauce is smooth.

  4. 4

    Combine Pasta and Sauce

Add the cooked macaroni to the cheese sauce and stir to combine thoroughly.

  5. 5

    Prepare the Topping

In a small bowl, mix the breadcrumbs with the grated parmesan cheese and a drizzle of melted butter.

  6. 6

    Assemble and Bake

Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Transfer the macaroni and cheese to a greased baking dish, sprinkle the breadcrumb mixture over the top, and bake for 20-25 minutes or until golden and bubbly.

  7. 7

    Serve

Remove from oven and let cool for a few minutes before serving. Enjoy your delicious homemade mac & cheese!
