Main Ingredients

Method

Preparing Russian Dressing

  1. 1

    Make the Dressing

In a medium bowl, combine mayonnaise, ketchup, horseradish, Worcestershire sauce, paprika, salt, and black pepper. Mix well until all ingredients are thoroughly combined.

Assembling the Reuben Sandwich

  1. 2

    Layer the Ingredients

Take two slices of rye bread and spread a generous amount of the Russian dressing on one side of each slice.

  2. 3

    Add Corned Beef

Layer the corned beef evenly over the dressing on one slice of bread.

  3. 4

    Add Sauerkraut

Spoon the sauerkraut over the corned beef, spreading it evenly.

  4. 5

    Add Swiss Cheese

Place a slice of Swiss cheese on top of the sauerkraut.

  5. 6

    Top with Bread

Spread more Russian dressing on the uncoated side of another slice of rye bread and place it on top of the cheese.

Cooking the Sandwich

  1. 7

    Grill the Sandwich

Heat a skillet or griddle over medium heat. Once hot, add a little butter or oil if desired. Place the sandwich in the skillet and cook for about 4-5 minutes until the bottom is golden brown.

  2. 8

    Flip and Cook

Carefully flip the sandwich using a spatula and cook for another 4-5 minutes on the other side until the cheese is melted and the bread is golden brown.

  3. 9

    Slice and Serve

Remove the sandwich from the skillet, let it cool for a minute, then slice it in half and serve with additional Russian dressing on the side if desired.
