Preparation
- 1
Prepare the Beef Franks
Begin by boiling or grilling the all beef franks according to package instructions until heated through. This usually takes about 5-7 minutes if boiling.
- 2
Wrap the Franks
Once the franks are cooked, lay out an egg roll wrapper on a clean surface. Place one frank horizontally across the center of the wrapper. Fold the bottom edge over the frank, then fold in the sides, and roll it up tightly. Repeat with the remaining franks and wrappers.
Cooking
- 3
Heat the Oil
In a deep frying pan or pot, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat until it reaches about 350°F (175°C). You can test the oil by dropping a small piece of egg roll wrapper in; it should sizzle immediately.
- 4
Fry the Chow Dog Bites
Carefully place the wrapped franks into the hot oil, a few at a time, ensuring not to overcrowd the pan. Fry them for about 3-4 minutes or until they are golden brown and crispy. Use a slotted spoon to turn them occasionally for even cooking.
- 5
Drain and Serve
Once cooked, remove the chow dog bites from the oil and place them on a plate lined with paper towels to drain excess oil. Allow them to cool slightly before serving.
