Preparation Instructions
- 1
Cook the Pasta
In a large pot, bring salted water to a boil. Add elbow macaroni and cook until al dente, about 8-10 minutes. Drain and set aside.
- 2
Make the Cheese Sauce
In the same pot, melt the butter over medium heat. Once melted, whisk in the flour and cook for 2 minutes until slightly golden. Gradually whisk in the milk and continue to cook until the sauce thickens, about 5 minutes. Stir in the cheddar cheese until melted and smooth. Season with salt and black pepper.
- 3
Combine Pasta and Sauce
Add the drained macaroni to the cheese sauce and stir until well combined.
- 4
Prepare for Baking
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Transfer the mac and cheese mixture to a greased baking dish.
- 5
Add Toppings
In a small bowl, mix together bread crumbs, grated Parmesan cheese, and paprika. Sprinkle this mixture evenly over the mac and cheese.
- 6
Bake
Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes or until the top is golden brown and crispy.
- 7
Serve
Remove from the oven and let it cool for a few minutes before serving. Enjoy your homemade mac & cheese!
