Method
Prepare Sticky Rice
- 1
Rinse the Rice
Place the glutinous rice in a bowl and rinse it under cold water until the water runs clear, about 3-4 times.
- 2
Soak the Rice
Soak the rinsed rice in enough water to cover it for at least 4 hours or overnight.
- 3
Steam the Rice
Drain the soaked rice and place it in a steamer basket lined with cheesecloth. Steam for about 30-40 minutes, or until the rice is tender and sticky.
Prepare Coconut Sauce
- 4
Cook the Coconut Sauce
In a saucepan, combine the coconut milk, sugar, and salt. Cook over medium heat, stirring until the sugar dissolves. Do not bring it to a boil.
- 5
Mix with Sticky Rice
Once the rice is steamed, transfer it to a bowl and pour half of the coconut sauce over it. Stir gently to combine and let it sit for about 15 minutes to absorb the flavors.
Assemble the Dish
- 6
Slice the Mango
Peel the ripe mangoes and slice them into thin strips.
- 7
Serve
On a plate, serve a portion of the sticky rice. Top it with the sliced mango and drizzle with the remaining coconut sauce. Sprinkle with sesame seeds or mung beans for garnish.
