Method

Preparation

  1. 1

    Preheat the Oven

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).

  2. 2

    Mix Dry Ingredients

In a large bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, baking powder, nutmeg, and cinnamon.

  3. 3

    Cream Butter and Sugar

In another bowl, beat the unsalted butter and granulated sugar together until light and fluffy.

  4. 4

    Add Eggs and Vanilla

Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Then, stir in the vanilla extract.

  5. 5

    Combine Mixtures

Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, alternating with the milk. Mix until just combined.

Baking and Decorating

  1. 6

    Pour Batter into Pan

Pour the batter into a greased 9x13 inch baking pan.

  2. 7

    Bake

Bake in the preheated oven for 30-35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.

  3. 8

    Cool

Allow the cake to cool completely in the pan before removing.

  4. 9

    Prepare Frosting

In a small bowl, mix the powdered sugar with a few drops of milk until it reaches a spreadable consistency. Add food coloring to create holiday colors.

  5. 10

    Decorate

Spread the frosting over the cooled cake and top with sprinkles.
