Cooking Directions
- 1
Prepare the Oil
In a large pot or deep fryer, heat the vegetable oil to 375°F (190°C).
- 2
Make the Batter
In a large bowl, combine the cornmeal, all-purpose flour, baking powder, sugar, and salt. In another bowl, whisk together the milk and egg. Add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients and mix until smooth.
- 3
Prepare the Hot Dogs
Insert a wooden stick into each hot dog, leaving enough stick exposed for handling.
- 4
Coat the Hot Dogs
Dip each hot dog into the batter, ensuring it is completely coated.
- 5
Fry the Corn Dogs
Carefully place the battered hot dogs into the hot oil, a few at a time, and fry for about 3-5 minutes or until golden brown. Remove and drain on paper towels.
- 6
Serve
Serve the corn dogs hot with fries on the side.
