Cocktail Base

Method

Prepare & Shake

  1. 1

    Measure and juice

Chill all liquids beforehand if possible. Cut fresh lemon in half and squeeze until you have 0.5 oz (about half a lemon). Strain seeds and set juice aside.

  2. 2

    Build in shaker

Into a cocktail shaker add 1 cup of ice, 2 oz chilled vodka, 1 oz watermelon liqueur, 2 oz sweet & sour mix and the 0.5 oz fresh lemon juice.

  3. 3

    Shake

Secure the shaker lid and shake vigorously for 10–12 seconds until the shaker feels cold and slightly frosted.

Finish & Serve

  1. 4

    Prepare glass

Fill a highball or Collins glass with fresh ice (or leave some space if you prefer less dilution).

  2. 5

    Strain and top

Strain the shaken cocktail into the prepared glass over ice. Top with 2 oz chilled Sprite (lemon-lime soda) to add effervescence and sweetness. Gently stir once to combine.

  3. 6

    Garnish and serve

Garnish with a lemon wheel on the rim and an optional small watermelon wedge or ball on a pick. Serve immediately with a straw.
