Garnishes & Finishing
Method
Base Preparation (for all frozen drinks)
Ice and blender
Add 1 to 2 cups of ice to a high-speed blender per single 12–16 oz drink. For the recipes below, the base quantities assume blending two drinks; adjust ice proportionally for single servings.
Alcohol balance
Start by adding the base spirits called for in the recipe section (rum, vodka, tequila, triple sec) to the blender. You can omit or reduce alcohol for family-friendly or lower-ABV versions.
Sweetness & acidity
Add simple syrup, agave, and citrus (lime/lemon) as specified by each cocktail to balance sweetness and brightness.
Blend to texture
Pulse the blender on low for 5–10 seconds to break large ice, then increase speed and blend for 15–30 seconds until smooth and slushy. If too thick, add 0.5–1 oz of juice, soda, or water and re-blend. If too thin, add more ice and blend in short bursts.
Pina Colada
In the blender add 2 cups ice, 2 oz light rum, 4 oz pineapple juice, 2 oz coconut cream, and 0.5 cups pineapple chunks (if using). Blend until smooth and slushy. Taste and add 0.5 oz simple syrup if additional sweetness is desired. Pour into a chilled glass, garnish with a pineapple wedge and maraschino cherry.
Strawberry Frozen
Add 2 cups ice, 2 oz vodka (or rum), 1 cup frozen strawberries, 1 oz fresh lime juice, and 1 tbs strawberry syrup (optional) to the blender. Blend until smooth. If too thick, add 0.5 oz water or juice and re-blend. Serve in a chilled glass with a strawberry or lime wheel garnish.
Margarita Frozen
Rub lime on the rim of the glass and dip into salt. In the blender add 2 cups ice, 2 oz tequila, 1 oz triple sec, 1 oz fresh lime juice, and 1 tbs agave syrup. Blend until smooth and slushy. Adjust sweetness with more agave if needed. Pour into the prepared glass and garnish with a lime wheel.
Shark Fuel
To make a bright blue tropical slush: add 2 cups ice, 1 oz light rum, 1 oz blue curaçao (or blue raspberry syrup for zero-alc), 2 oz mango juice, and 2 oz chilled energy drink (optional) to the blender. Pulse to combine then blend until slushy. If using energy drink, stir gently after blending to preserve bubbles. Serve with a lime wheel and mint sprig.
Bushwacker
Add 2 cups ice, 1 oz light rum (or vodka), 1 oz coffee liqueur, 1 oz creme de cacao (or 1 tbs chocolate syrup), 2 oz heavy cream and 0.5 cup vanilla ice cream to the blender. Blend until creamy and smooth. If too thick, add 0.5 oz milk or cream to reach desired consistency. Garnish with grated chocolate or a sprinkle of cocoa powder.
Mango Frozen
Place 2 cups ice, 2 oz light rum (optional), 1 cup frozen mango, and 1 oz mango juice into the blender. Blend until smooth and creamy. Add 0.5 oz simple syrup if additional sweetness is needed. Garnish with a mango slice or lime wheel.
Blue Raspberry / Blue Drinks
For a non-alcoholic slush, combine 2 cups ice, 1 oz blue raspberry syrup, 1 oz lemon juice, and 1 oz water in the blender; blend to a slush. For an alcoholic version, add 1–2 oz vodka or light rum and/or 1 oz blue curaçao. Finish with a float of lemon-lime soda (1 oz) if desired and garnish with a lemon wheel.
Finishing & Serving
Spoon or pour the blended drink into prepared chilled glasses. Garnish according to the recipe: pineapple wedge and cherry for Pina Colada, lime wheel for Margaritas, mint for Shark Fuel, and chocolate shavings for Bushwacker. Serve immediately with a straw and/or cocktail pick.
To batch-serve at a party: pre-mix juices, syrups and spirits (without ice) in a pitcher. When ready to serve, blend measured portions with ice to maintain texture and freshness. Alternatively, freeze blended slush in a shallow pan and re-blend briefly before serving.
