Pineapple Upside Down Recipe

Build and shake
Add the vanilla rum (1 oz), pineapple rum (1 oz), pineapple juice (3 oz) and fresh lime juice (0.5 oz) into a cocktail shaker. If you prefer the drink sweeter, add simple syrup (0.25 oz). Fill the shaker with crushed ice or ice cubes (about 1 cup). Secure the lid and shake vigorously for 10–15 seconds until the outside of the shaker is cold.

Strain and layer grenadine
Fill a highball or rocks glass with fresh ice. Strain the shaken mixture into the glass. Slowly pour the grenadine (0.25 oz) down the side of the glass or over the back of a spoon so it sinks toward the bottom, creating the characteristic 'upside down' layered look.

Garnish and serve
Garnish with a pineapple wedge and a maraschino cherry on a cocktail pick. Optionally, serve with a short straw so the drinker can gently stir if they want more uniform sweetness. Present immediately while cold.
