Pasta Preparation
- 1
Boil the Water
In a large pot, bring water to a boil. Add 1 tablespoon of salt to the water.
- 2
Cook the Spaghetti
Add the spaghetti to the boiling water and cook according to package instructions, usually about 8-10 minutes, until al dente.
- 3
Drain the Pasta
Once cooked, drain the spaghetti in a colander and set aside.
Bolognese Sauce Preparation
- 4
Sauté the Vegetables
In a large skillet, heat 2 tablespoons of olive oil over medium heat. Add the chopped onion, carrot, and celery, and sauté for about 5-7 minutes until the vegetables are softened.
- 5
Add Garlic and Ground Beef
Stir in the minced garlic and ground beef. Cook until the beef is browned, breaking it apart with a spoon, about 8-10 minutes.
- 6
Add Tomatoes and Seasonings
Add the crushed canned tomatoes, tomato paste, dried oregano, dried basil, salt, and black pepper to the skillet. Stir well to combine.
- 7
Simmer the Sauce
Reduce heat to low and let the sauce simmer for about 20-30 minutes, stirring occasionally, until it thickens.
- 8
Combine Pasta and Sauce
Add the drained spaghetti to the sauce and toss to coat the pasta evenly.
- 9
Serve
Serve the spaghetti Bolognese hot, topped with grated Parmesan cheese.
