Method
Flatbread Preparation
- 1
Make the Dough
In a large bowl, combine warm water and active dry yeast. Let it sit for about 5 minutes until it becomes frothy. Add olive oil and salt, then gradually mix in the flour until a dough forms.
- 2
Knead the Dough
Transfer the dough onto a floured surface and knead for about 5-7 minutes until smooth and elastic. Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour or until doubled in size.
- 3
Shape the Flatbreads
Once risen, punch down the dough and divide it into 4 equal pieces. Roll each piece into a flat circle about 1/4 inch thick.
Grilling and Topping
- 4
Grill the Flatbreads
Preheat a grill or grill pan over medium-high heat. Cook each flatbread for about 2-3 minutes per side until lightly charred and cooked through.
- 5
Add Toppings
Once grilled, remove the flatbreads from the heat. Top each with burrata cheese, drizzle with Calabrian chile oil, and spread fig jam on top as desired. Serve immediately.
