Chocolate Mousse Cake
Method
Instructions
- 1
Prepare the Cake
Preheat your oven to 180°C (350°F). Grease and flour a round cake pan.
- 2
Melt Chocolate and Butter
In a heatproof bowl, melt the dark chocolate and unsalted butter together over a pot of simmering water, stirring until smooth. Remove from heat.
- 3
Mix Eggs and Sugar
In a separate bowl, whisk together the eggs and granulated sugar until pale and fluffy.
- 4
Combine Mixtures
Gradually add the melted chocolate mixture to the egg mixture, stirring constantly. Add vanilla extract and mix well.
- 5
Add Flour
Sift in the all-purpose flour and fold gently until just combined.
- 6
Bake the Cake
Pour the batter into the prepared cake pan and bake for 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean. Let it cool completely.
- 7
Make the Chocolate Ganache
In a saucepan, heat the heavy cream until it begins to simmer. Remove from heat and add chopped dark chocolate. Stir until smooth and glossy.
- 8
Assemble the Cake
Once the cake is cool, pour the ganache over the top, allowing it to drip down the sides. Refrigerate until set.
