Prepare Scallops
Pat the scallops dry with paper towels and season both sides with salt and black pepper.

Sear Scallops
In a large skillet, melt 2 tablespoons of butter over medium-high heat. Once hot, add the scallops and sear for about 2-3 minutes on each side until they develop a golden brown crust. Remove scallops from the skillet and set aside.

Make Lemon Butter Sauce
In the same skillet, reduce heat to medium and add the remaining 2 tablespoons of butter. Once melted, add minced garlic and sauté for about 30 seconds until fragrant. Stir in the lemon juice and lemon zest, cooking for another minute. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
