Instructions

  1. 1

    Prepare the Pears

Peel the pears, leaving the stems intact, and set aside.

  2. 2

    Combine Ingredients

In a large saucepan, combine the red wine, sugar, water, cinnamon stick, cloves, and vanilla extract.

  3. 3

    Simmer

Bring the mixture to a gentle simmer over medium heat, stirring until the sugar has dissolved.

  4. 4

    Add Pears

Carefully add the peeled pears to the saucepan, ensuring they are submerged in the wine mixture.

  5. 5

    Poach the Pears

Reduce the heat to low and cover the saucepan. Poach the pears for about 30-40 minutes, or until they are tender.

  6. 6

    Cool and Serve

Once the pears are tender, remove them from the saucepan and let them cool. Serve the pears drizzled with the reduced wine sauce.
