Crispy Duck Ingredients
Method
Crispy Duck Directions
- 1
Prepare the Duck
Pat the duck legs dry with paper towels. Score the skin in a crosshatch pattern, being careful not to cut into the meat. Rub the duck legs with salt, pepper, garlic powder, and five-spice powder. Let them marinate for at least 1 hour, or overnight in the refrigerator for best results.
- 2
Cook the Duck
In a large skillet or frying pan, heat the vegetable oil over medium heat. Place the duck legs skin-side down in the hot oil and cook for about 10-12 minutes, allowing the skin to become crispy and golden brown. Flip the duck legs and cook the other side for an additional 10 minutes. Remove the duck legs and drain excess fat, leaving just enough to continue cooking.
- 3
Bake the Duck
Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Place the duck legs in a baking dish and transfer them to the oven. Bake for 30-40 minutes, or until the internal temperature reaches 165°F (74°C) and the skin is crispy.
- 4
Make the Sauce
In a small saucepan, combine honey, soy sauce, rice vinegar, and chili flakes. Heat over medium heat until it begins to simmer, stirring occasionally. Allow to cook for 5 minutes until slightly thickened.
- 5
Serve
Once the duck is cooked and the skin is crispy, remove from the oven. Allow to rest for a few minutes before serving. Drizzle with the sweet and spicy sauce and enjoy!
