1. Prepare the Water
In a large saucepan, bring 4 cups of water to a boil over medium-high heat.
2. Add Grits
Once the water is boiling, add 1 cup of white corn grits and 1 tsp of salt. Stir well to combine.
3. Reduce Heat
Reduce the heat to low. Cover the saucepan and let it simmer for about 20-25 minutes, stirring occasionally.
4. Incorporate Milk and Butter
After the grits are cooked and have absorbed most of the water, stir in 1 cup of milk and 2 tbsp of butter. Mix until creamy.
5. Season and Serve
Add 0.5 tsp of black pepper, adjust seasoning to taste, and serve hot.
