Pie Ingredients

Method

Pie Preparation

  1. 1

    Prepare the Pie Crust

Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Roll out the pie crust and place it into a 9-inch pie pan. Prick the bottom with a fork to prevent bubbling. Bake for 10-12 minutes until lightly golden. Remove from the oven and let it cool.

  2. 2

    Prepare the Filling

In a mixing bowl, combine the blackberries, 1 tablespoon of sugar, and 1 tablespoon of flour. Toss gently to coat the blackberries. Set aside.

  3. 3

    Make the Custard

In another bowl, whisk together the remaining sugar, buttermilk, eggs, vanilla extract, flour, and a pinch of salt until smooth.

  4. 4

    Assemble the Pie

Spread the blackberry mixture evenly over the cooled pie crust. Pour the buttermilk custard mixture on top of the blackberries.

  5. 5

    Bake the Pie

Bake the pie in the preheated oven for 35-40 minutes or until the custard is set and lightly browned on top. The center might jiggle slightly but will firm up as it cools.

  6. 6

    Cool and Serve

Allow the pie to cool to room temperature before slicing. Serve with soft whipped cream on top.
