Method

Cooking Directions

1

Cook the Macaroni

In a large pot of boiling salted water, cook the elbow macaroni according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.

2

Make the Cheese Sauce

In a saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat. Stir in the flour and cook for about 1 minute, whisking constantly. Gradually add the milk, continuing to whisk until the mixture thickens.

3

Add Cheese and Seasoning

Remove the saucepan from heat and stir in the shredded cheddar cheese until melted and smooth. Season with salt, black pepper, and paprika.

4

Combine Macaroni and Cheese Sauce

Add the cooked macaroni to the cheese sauce, stirring until the pasta is evenly coated.

5

Bake (Optional)

If desired, transfer the mac and cheese to a baking dish, sprinkle with bread crumbs, and bake in a preheated oven at 350°F (175°C) for 20 minutes or until golden brown.

6

Serve

Remove from the oven and let it cool for a few minutes before serving.
