Cornbread Directions

1. Preheat the Oven

Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).

2. Mix Dry Ingredients

In a large bowl, combine the cornmeal, all-purpose flour, baking powder, sugar, and salt.

3. Combine Wet Ingredients

In another bowl, whisk together the milk, egg, and melted butter.

4. Combine Mixtures

Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and stir until just combined. Do not overmix.

5. Bake

Pour the batter into a greased 8-inch square baking dish or a cast-iron skillet. Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.

6. Prepare Honey Butter

While the cornbread is baking, prepare the honey butter by mixing softened butter with honey to taste.

7. Serve

Once baked, allow to cool slightly before cutting into squares and serving warm with honey butter.
