Method

Pecan Crust Preparation

  1. 1

    Preheat the Oven

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).

  2. 2

    Mix the Crust Ingredients

In a mixing bowl, combine the pecan halves, graham cracker crumbs, melted butter, and sugar. Mix until well combined.

  3. 3

    Form the Crust

Press the mixture firmly into the bottom and up the sides of a 9-inch pie pan.

  4. 4

    Bake the Crust

Bake the crust in the preheated oven for about 10-12 minutes or until golden brown. Remove from oven and let cool completely.

Chocolate Pudding Layer

  1. 5

    Prepare the Chocolate Pudding

In a medium saucepan, whisk together the chocolate pudding mix and 2 cups of milk. Cook over medium heat, stirring continuously until the mixture thickens and comes to a gentle boil.

  2. 6

    Cool the Pudding

Remove from heat and let the chocolate pudding cool slightly before spreading it over the cooled pecan crust.

Vanilla Pudding Layer

  1. 7

    Prepare the Vanilla Pudding

In a clean medium saucepan, whisk together the vanilla pudding mix and 2 cups of milk. Cook over medium heat, stirring continuously until the mixture thickens and comes to a gentle boil.

  2. 8

    Cool the Pudding

Remove from heat and allow the vanilla pudding to cool slightly before layering it over the chocolate pudding layer.

Assembling the Pie

  1. 9

    Layer the Puddings

Once both pudding layers have cooled, carefully pour the chocolate pudding over the crust, followed by the vanilla pudding.

  2. 10

    Chill the Pie

Cover the pie with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 4 hours or until set.

Topping the Pie

  1. 11

    Add the Toppings

Before serving, top the pie with whipped cream, chopped pecans, and chocolate shavings.
