Method
Pudding Preparation
- 1
Make the Pudding Base
In a medium saucepan, combine the milk, granulated sugar, cornstarch, and salt. Whisk together until smooth and well combined.
- 2
Cook the Pudding
Place the saucepan over medium heat and cook, stirring constantly, until the mixture begins to thicken and bubble. This should take about 10-15 minutes.
- 3
- 4
Cool the Pudding
Transfer the pudding to a bowl, cover with plastic wrap (pressing it directly onto the surface to prevent a skin from forming), and allow it to cool for at least 30 minutes.
Assembling the Dessert
- 5
Prepare the Bananas
While the pudding cools, slice the ripe bananas into thin rounds.
- 6
Layer the Ingredients
In a large trifle dish or individual cups, start layering by placing a layer of vanilla wafers at the bottom, followed by a layer of sliced bananas, and then a layer of the cooled pudding. Repeat the layers until all ingredients are used, finishing with a layer of pudding on top.
- 7
Add Whipped Cream
Top the final layer of pudding with whipped cream, smoothing it out evenly.
- 8
Chill and Serve
Cover the dessert with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 4 hours, or overnight for best results. Serve chilled and enjoy!
