Method

Preparing the Tea

  1. 1

    Boil Water

In a medium-sized pot, bring 4 cups of water to a rolling boil.

  2. 2

    Steep Tea

Once the water is boiling, remove it from heat. Add 4 black tea bags to the water. Allow the tea to steep for 5-7 minutes, depending on how strong you prefer your tea.

  3. 3

    Remove Tea Bags

After steeping, remove the tea bags from the pot. Be careful not to squeeze them to avoid bitterness.

Sweetening the Tea

  1. 4

    Add Sugar

While the tea is still warm, add 1 cup of granulated sugar to the tea and stir until fully dissolved.

Chilling the Tea

  1. 5

    Cool the Tea

Allow the sweetened tea to cool down to room temperature before transferring it to the refrigerator.

  2. 6

    Chill

Cover the pot or transfer the tea to a pitcher and refrigerate for at least 2 hours or until thoroughly chilled.

Serving the Tea

  1. 7

    Prepare Glasses

When ready to serve, fill glasses with ice cubes.

  2. 8

    Pour the Tea

Pour the chilled sweet tea over the ice-filled glasses.

  3. 9

    Garnish (optional)

Garnish with lemon slices and fresh mint leaves if desired.
