Method
Preparation of Ranch Dressing
- 1
Make the Ranch Dressing
In a mixing bowl, combine mayonnaise, sour cream, dill weed, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, black pepper, and lemon juice. Mix well until smooth and creamy. Refrigerate until ready to serve.
Preparation of Pickles
- 2
Prepare the Pickles
Drain the sliced dill pickles and pat them dry with paper towels to remove excess moisture.
Batter Preparation
- 3
Make the Batter
In a large bowl, combine the flour, cornmeal, baking powder, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and black pepper. In a separate bowl, whisk together the buttermilk and egg. Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and mix until just combined.
Frying
- 4
Heat the Oil
In a deep skillet or fryer, heat vegetable oil over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C).
- 5
Dredge and Fry the Pickles
Dip each pickle slice into the batter, allowing excess to drip off. Carefully place the battered pickles into the hot oil, frying in batches to avoid overcrowding. Fry until golden brown and crispy, about 2-3 minutes per side.
- 6
Drain and Serve
Using a slotted spoon, remove the fried pickles from the oil and place them on a plate lined with paper towels to drain excess oil. Serve warm with the ranch dressing.
