Brisket

Method

Brisket Preparation

  1. 1

    Prepare the Brisket

Preheat your oven to 300°F (150°C). In a small bowl, mix together onion powder, garlic powder, paprika, brown sugar, salt, and black pepper to create a dry rub. Rub this mixture all over the brisket.

  2. 2

    Sear the Brisket

In a large oven-safe skillet or Dutch oven, heat olive oil over medium-high heat. Once hot, add the brisket and sear for about 4-5 minutes on each side until browned.

  3. 3

    Add Broth and Cook

Pour the beef broth into the skillet with the brisket. Cover with a lid or aluminum foil and place in the preheated oven. Cook for about 3-4 hours, or until the brisket is tender and easily pulls apart with a fork.

Side Preparation

  1. 4

    Cook the Green Beans

While the brisket is cooking, prepare the green beans. In a pot of boiling salted water, add the green beans and cook for 4-5 minutes until tender but still crisp. Drain and toss with butter and salt.

  2. 5

    Prepare the Mashed Potatoes

In a large pot, boil the potatoes until fork-tender. Drain and return to the pot. Add milk, 4 tbs butter, salt, and pepper. Mash until smooth and creamy.
