Method

Chili Preparation

  1. 1

    Cook the beef

In a large skillet over medium heat, add the ground beef. Cook until browned, breaking it apart with a spatula, about 5-7 minutes.

  2. 2

    Add onions and garlic

Add the chopped onion and minced garlic to the skillet. Sauté until the onion is translucent, about 3-4 minutes.

  3. 3

    Combine other ingredients

Stir in the canned diced tomatoes, kidney beans, chili powder, cumin, salt, and black pepper. Mix well.

  4. 4

    Simmer the chili

Reduce heat to low and let the chili simmer for 15-20 minutes, stirring occasionally.

Nacho Assembly

  1. 5

    Preheat the oven

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).

  2. 6

    Prepare the chips

Spread the tortilla chips evenly on a large baking sheet.

  3. 7

    Add chili

Spoon the prepared chili evenly over the tortilla chips.

  4. 8

    Add cheese and jalapeños

Sprinkle the shredded cheese over the chili, then top with sliced jalapeños.

  5. 9

    Bake the nachos

Place the baking sheet in the preheated oven. Bake for 10-15 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.

  6. 10

    Serve

Remove from the oven and allow to cool slightly. Serve hot with a dollop of sour cream on top.
