Chili Preparation

Cook the beef
In a large skillet over medium heat, add the ground beef. Cook until browned, breaking it apart with a spatula, about 5-7 minutes.

Combine other ingredients
Stir in the canned diced tomatoes, kidney beans, chili powder, cumin, salt, and black pepper. Mix well.

Simmer the chili
Reduce heat to low and let the chili simmer for 15-20 minutes, stirring occasionally.

Preheat the oven
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).

Prepare the chips
Spread the tortilla chips evenly on a large baking sheet.

Add chili
Spoon the prepared chili evenly over the tortilla chips.

Add cheese and jalapeños
Sprinkle the shredded cheese over the chili, then top with sliced jalapeños.

Bake the nachos
Place the baking sheet in the preheated oven. Bake for 10-15 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.

Remove from the oven and allow to cool slightly. Serve hot with a dollop of sour cream on top.
