Falafel Ingredients

Method

Falafel Preparation

  1. 1

    Soak Chickpeas

Soak the dried chickpeas in water for at least 8 hours or overnight. Drain and rinse before using.

  2. 2

    Blend Ingredients

In a food processor, combine the soaked chickpeas, parsley, cilantro, onion, garlic, cumin, coriander, baking powder, salt, black pepper, and flour. Pulse until a coarse mixture forms, scraping down the sides as needed.

  3. 3

    Chill Mixture

Transfer the mixture to a bowl, cover it, and let it chill in the refrigerator for at least 1 hour.

  4. 4

    Form Falafels

Once chilled, use your hands to form small balls or patties from the mixture.

  5. 5

    Heat Oil

In a deep skillet or pot, heat vegetable oil over medium heat until hot.

  6. 6

    Fry Falafels

Fry the falafel balls in batches for about 4-5 minutes, or until golden brown and crispy. Remove and drain on paper towels.
