Method

Shrimp Preparation

  1. 1

    Season the Shrimp

In a large bowl, combine the cleaned jumbo shrimp with salt and black pepper. Toss to coat evenly.

  2. 2

    Prepare the Breading Station

Set up a breading station by placing the cornstarch in one bowl, the beaten egg in a second bowl, and the panko breadcrumbs in a third bowl.

  3. 3

    Bread the Shrimp

Dredge each shrimp first in cornstarch, then dip into the beaten egg, and finally coat with panko breadcrumbs. Ensure each shrimp is evenly coated.

  4. 4

    Fry the Shrimp

In a large skillet, heat vegetable oil over medium-high heat. Once the oil is hot, carefully add the breaded shrimp in batches. Fry until golden brown and crispy, about 2-3 minutes on each side. Remove and drain on paper towels.

Sweet Sauce Preparation

  1. 5

    Combine Ingredients

In a saucepan over medium heat, combine honey, soy sauce, rice vinegar, sesame oil, minced garlic, grated ginger, and red pepper flakes. Stir until well mixed.

  2. 6

    Thicken the Sauce

In a small bowl, mix cornstarch and water to create a slurry. Add the slurry to the saucepan and cook for an additional 2-3 minutes, stirring constantly until the sauce thickens.

  3. 7

    Serve

Once the sauce has thickened, remove from heat. Serve the crispy shrimp drizzled with the sweet sauce or as a dipping sauce on the side.
