Hash Browns Ingredients

Method

Hash Browns Preparation

  1. 1

    Prepare the Potatoes

Peel the russet potatoes and grate them using a box grater or a food processor. Rinse the grated potatoes in cold water to remove excess starch, then drain and pat dry with paper towels.

  2. 2

    Sauté the Onion

Finely chop the onion and sauté it in a large skillet over medium heat with 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil until translucent.

  3. 3

    Combine Ingredients

In a large bowl, combine the grated potatoes, sautéed onions, salt, and pepper. Mix well to ensure the potatoes are evenly seasoned.

  4. 4

    Cook the Hash Browns

Heat the remaining vegetable oil and butter in the skillet over medium-high heat. Once hot, add the potato mixture in an even layer. Press down gently with a spatula to flatten.

  5. 5

    Flip and Finish Cooking

Cook for about 5-7 minutes until the bottom is golden brown. Carefully flip the hash browns using a large plate or spatula, and cook the other side for another 5-7 minutes until golden and crispy.

  6. 6

    Serve

Once cooked, remove the hash browns from the skillet and drain on paper towels. Serve immediately and enjoy!
