Method

Crust Preparation

  1. 1

    Prepare the Crust

In a mixing bowl, combine the chocolate cookie crumbs and melted butter. Mix until the crumbs are evenly coated and resemble wet sand.

  2. 2

    Form the Crust

Press the mixture firmly into the bottom and up the sides of a 9-inch pie pan. Make sure it is evenly spread.

  3. 3

    Bake the Crust

Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and bake the crust for about 10 minutes. Remove from oven and let it cool completely.

Filling Preparation

  1. 4

    Prepare the Cream Cheese Layer

In a large mixing bowl, beat the softened cream cheese with powdered sugar until smooth. Spread this mixture evenly over the cooled crust.

  2. 5

    Prepare the Chocolate Pudding Layer

In another bowl, whisk together the chocolate pudding mix and milk until thickened, about 2 minutes. Pour this over the cream cheese layer and spread evenly.

  3. 6

    Add Whipped Topping

Gently fold in the whipped topping into the pudding mixture until fully combined. Spread this over the pudding layer.

Topping Preparation

  1. 7

    Add the Toppings

Drizzle chocolate syrup over the whipped topping layer. Then sprinkle with chocolate shavings and chopped nuts if desired.

  2. 8

    Chill the Pie

Cover the pie with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 4 hours or overnight to allow it to set properly.

  3. 9

    Serve the Mud Pie

Once set, slice the pie into wedges and serve chilled. Enjoy!
