Bread Dough

Method

Bread Dough Preparation

  1. 1

    Activate Yeast

In a small bowl, combine warm water, sugar, and active dry yeast. Stir gently and let sit for about 10 minutes until foamy.

  2. 2

    Mix Dry Ingredients

In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour and salt.

  3. 3

    Combine Ingredients

Make a well in the center of the flour mixture. Add the activated yeast mixture and olive oil into the well.

  4. 4

    Knead the Dough

Mix until a dough starts to form. Knead on a floured surface for about 8-10 minutes until smooth and elastic.

  5. 5

    Allow to Rise

Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a damp cloth, and let rise in a warm place for about 1 hour until doubled in size.

Shrimp & Crawfish Alfredo Filling Preparation

  1. 6

    Cook the Seafood

In a large skillet, melt butter over medium heat. Add minced garlic and sauté for 1 minute until fragrant. Add shrimp and cook until pink, about 3-4 minutes. Add crawfish tails and sauté for another 2 minutes.

  2. 7

    Make the Alfredo Sauce

Pour in the heavy cream and bring to a gentle simmer. Stir in the Parmesan cheese, Italian seasoning, salt, and black pepper. Allow to cook for 3-4 minutes until the sauce thickens slightly.

  3. 8

    Combine with Seafood

Remove from heat and let the filling cool slightly.

Assembling the Bread

  1. 9

    Shape the Dough

Once the dough has risen, punch it down and transfer it to a floured surface. Roll out into a large rectangle.

  2. 10

    Fill the Dough

Spread the shrimp and crawfish Alfredo filling evenly over the dough, leaving a small border around the edges.

  3. 11

    Roll and Seal

Carefully roll the dough from one long side to the other. Pinch the seams to seal it well.

  4. 12

    Second Rise

Place the rolled bread onto a greased baking sheet. Cover with a cloth and let rise for another 30 minutes.

Baking

  1. 13

    Preheat the Oven

Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).

  2. 14

    Bake the Bread

Bake the bread for 25-30 minutes until golden brown and hollow-sounding when tapped.

  3. 15

    Cool and Serve

Remove from the oven and let cool slightly before slicing. Serve warm.
