Method

Prepare Candied Bacon

  1. 1

    Cook the Bacon

Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper. Lay the bacon strips on the sheet and bake for 10 minutes.

  2. 2

    Add Sugar and Syrup

Remove the bacon from the oven and sprinkle brown sugar evenly over each slice. Drizzle with maple syrup. Return to the oven and bake for an additional 10-15 minutes until crispy and caramelized.

  3. 3

    Cool the Bacon

Once done, let the candied bacon cool on a wire rack.

Make the Burger Patty

  1. 4

    Form the Patties

In a large bowl, combine the ground beef, salt, and black pepper. Mix gently and form into 4 equal-sized patties.

  2. 5

    Cook the Patties

Heat a grill or skillet over medium-high heat. Cook the patties for about 4-5 minutes on each side for medium rare, or until desired doneness.

  3. 6

    Add Cheese

During the last minute of cooking, top each patty with shredded gouda cheese and cover to melt.

Assemble the Burger

  1. 7

    Toast the Buns

While the patties are cooking, toast the brioche buns in a separate skillet with olive oil until golden brown.

  2. 8

    Prepare the Vegetables

Slice the tomato and onion and wash the lettuce.

  3. 9

    Build the Burger

On the bottom half of each brioche bun, layer lettuce, the cooked beef patty with melted gouda, candied bacon, and top with slices of tomato and onion. Place the top bun on.

  4. 10

    Serve with Fries

Serve the burgers with a side of fries.
