Method

Cooking the Pasta

  1. 1

    Boil Water

In a large pot, bring water to a boil and add 1 tablespoon of salt.

  2. 2

    Cook Pasta

Add the spaghetti to the boiling water and cook according to the package instructions, usually about 8-10 minutes for al dente.

  3. 3

    Drain Pasta

Once the pasta is cooked, drain it in a colander and set aside.

Preparing the Bolognese Sauce

  1. 4

    Heat Olive Oil

In a large skillet or saucepan, heat 2 tablespoons of olive oil over medium heat.

  2. 5

    Sauté Vegetables

Add the finely chopped onion, carrot, and celery. Sauté for about 5-7 minutes until the vegetables are softened.

  3. 6

    Add Garlic

Stir in the minced garlic and cook for an additional 1-2 minutes until fragrant.

  4. 7

    Brown the Meat

Add the ground beef to the pan, breaking it up with a spatula. Cook until browned, about 8-10 minutes.

  5. 8

    Add Tomatoes and Wine

Stir in the crushed tomatoes, tomato paste, and red wine. Bring to a simmer.

  6. 9

    Season the Sauce

Add oregano, basil, salt, and black pepper. Reduce the heat to low and let the sauce simmer for 30 minutes, stirring occasionally.

  7. 10

    Combine Pasta and Sauce

Toss the drained spaghetti with the Bolognese sauce until well coated.

  8. 11

    Serve

Serve the pasta hot, topped with grated Parmesan cheese.
