Cooking Pasta

Boil Water
In a large pot, bring 4-6 quarts of water to a boil. Add 1 tablespoon of salt.

Cook Fettuccine
Add the fettuccine pasta to the boiling water and cook according to package instructions until al dente, usually about 8-10 minutes.

Drain Pasta
Once cooked, drain the pasta in a colander and set aside, reserving a cup of the pasta water.
Making Alfredo Sauce

Melt Butter
In a large skillet over medium heat, melt 1 cup of unsalted butter.

Add Cream
Pour in 2 cups of heavy cream and bring the mixture to a gentle simmer. Stir occasionally.

Add Cheese and Seasonings
Reduce heat to low and whisk in 1 cup of grated Parmesan cheese, 1 teaspoon of black pepper, and 1 teaspoon of ground nutmeg until smooth.

Combine Pasta and Sauce
Add the drained fettuccine to the Alfredo sauce. Toss to coat the pasta evenly. If the sauce is too thick, add reserved pasta water a little at a time until desired consistency is reached.
Serving

Serve the Fettuccine Alfredo hot, garnished with chopped parsley.
