Method

Pancakes

  1. 1

    Prepare Dry Ingredients

In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, granulated sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and salt until well combined.

  2. 2

    Mix Wet Ingredients

In another bowl, whisk together the milk, egg, and melted butter until smooth.

  3. 3

    Combine Ingredients

Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and stir gently until just combined. Be careful not to overmix; a few lumps are okay. Fold in the milk chocolate chips.

  4. 4

    Cook Pancakes

Heat a non-stick skillet or griddle over medium heat. Lightly grease with butter or oil. Pour 1/4 cup of batter for each pancake onto the skillet. Cook until bubbles form on the surface and the edges appear set, about 2-3 minutes. Flip and cook for another 1-2 minutes until golden brown. Repeat with remaining batter.

Cream Cheese Grits

  1. 5

    Cook Grits

In a saucepan, bring the water to a boil. Stir in the grits and salt, reduce the heat to low, and cook, stirring frequently, until thickened, about 20-25 minutes.

  2. 6

    Add Cheese

Once the grits are cooked, remove them from heat and stir in the cream cheese and shredded gouda until melted and creamy.

Bacon

  1. 7

    Cook Bacon

In a skillet over medium heat, cook the bacon slices until crispy, about 5-7 minutes. Transfer to a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess fat.

Serving

  1. 8

    Serve

Serve the pancakes warm with maple syrup drizzled on top, alongside the creamy cheese grits and crispy bacon.
