Method

Dough Preparation

  1. 1

    Activate Yeast

In a small bowl, combine warm water, sugar, and active dry yeast. Let it sit for about 5-10 minutes until it becomes frothy.

  2. 2

    Mix Dry Ingredients

In a large mixing bowl, combine the all-purpose flour and salt.

  3. 3

    Combine Ingredients

Add the activated yeast mixture and olive oil to the bowl with flour. Mix until a dough forms.

  4. 4

    Knead the Dough

Turn the dough out onto a floured surface and knead for about 5-7 minutes until smooth and elastic.

  5. 5

    Let the Dough Rise

Place the dough in a lightly greased bowl, cover with a cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour or until doubled in size.

Pizza Assembly

  1. 6

    Preheat Oven

Preheat your oven to 475°F (245°C). If using a pizza stone, place it in the oven to heat.

  2. 7

    Shape the Dough

Once the dough has risen, punch it down and turn it out onto a floured surface. Roll it out into a 12-inch circle.

  3. 8

    Add Tomato Sauce

Transfer the rolled-out dough onto a pizza stone or baking sheet. Spread the tomato sauce evenly over the surface.

  4. 9

    Add Cheese and Seasonings

Sprinkle the mozzarella cheese evenly over the tomato sauce. Add dried oregano and black pepper to taste.

  5. 10

    Bake the Pizza

Bake in the preheated oven for 12-15 minutes or until the crust is golden and the cheese is bubbly.

  6. 11

    Slice and Serve

Remove the pizza from the oven, let it cool for a few minutes, then slice and serve hot.
