Breadstick Directions
- 1
Activate Yeast
In a small bowl, combine warm water and sugar. Sprinkle yeast over the top and let it sit for about 5-10 minutes, until frothy.
- 2
Mix Dry Ingredients
In a large mixing bowl, whisk together flour, salt, garlic powder, and Italian seasoning.
- 3
Combine Ingredients
Once yeast is activated, add it along with olive oil to the dry ingredients. Mix until combined and a dough forms.
- 4
Knead Dough
Turn the dough onto a floured surface and knead for about 5-7 minutes until smooth and elastic.

First Rise
Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a damp cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour or until doubled in size.
- 6
Shape Breadsticks
Once risen, punch down the dough and divide it into 12 equal pieces. Roll each piece into a long stick shape.
- 7
Second Rise
Place the shaped breadsticks on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Cover and let them rise for another 30 minutes.
- 8
Prepare for Baking
Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C). Brush the risen breadsticks with olive oil and sprinkle with Parmesan cheese and parsley if desired.
- 9
Bake
Bake breadsticks in the preheated oven for 12-15 minutes or until golden brown.
