Bread Pudding
Brandy Brown Sugar Sauce
Method
Bread Pudding Preparation
- 1
Prepare the Bread
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Cut the stale bread into bite-sized cubes and place them in a large mixing bowl.
- 2
Mix the Wet Ingredients
In a separate bowl, whisk together the milk, heavy cream, granulated sugar, eggs, vanilla extract, cinnamon, and salt until well combined.
- 3
Combine Ingredients
Pour the wet mixture over the bread cubes. Stir gently to ensure all bread pieces are coated. Allow to sit for about 15 minutes to absorb the liquid.
- 4
Cook the Bananas
In a skillet over medium heat, melt 2 tablespoons of butter. Add the sliced bananas and sprinkle with brown sugar and cinnamon. Cook until the bananas are caramelized, about 3-4 minutes.
- 5
Add Bananas to Pudding
Fold the caramelized bananas into the bread mixture gently.
- 6
Bake the Pudding
Transfer the mixture to a greased baking dish and bake for 45-50 minutes, or until the top is golden and a knife inserted in the center comes out clean.
Brandy Brown Sugar Sauce Preparation
- 7
Make the Sauce
In a saucepan over medium heat, melt the unsalted butter. Stir in the brown sugar and cinnamon until the mixture is smooth.
- 8
Add Brandy
Carefully add the brandy to the saucepan (it may flame up), then stir continuously until the sauce is thickened and bubbly, about 5-7 minutes.
- 9
Serve
Drizzle the warm brandy brown sugar sauce over the baked bread pudding before serving.
