Method
Preparation
- 1
Clean the Seafood
Thoroughly rinse the shrimp, calamari, mussels, and clams under cold running water. Remove any beards from the mussels and soak the clams in salted water for about 30 minutes to remove any grit.
- 2
Cook the Pasta
Bring a large pot of salted water to a rolling boil. Add the spaghetti and cook according to the package instructions until al dente. Reserve 1 cup of pasta water, then drain the pasta.
Cooking
- 3
Make the Sauce
In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the minced garlic and sauté for 1-2 minutes until fragrant.
- 4
Add Tomatoes and Wine
Add the halved cherry tomatoes to the skillet and cook for about 5 minutes until they start to soften. Pour in the white wine and let it simmer for another 3 minutes.
- 5
Add Seafood
Stir in the shrimp, calamari, mussels, and clams. Cook for about 5-7 minutes until the seafood is cooked through and the mussels and clams have opened. Discard any that remain closed.
- 6
Combine with Pasta
Add the cooked spaghetti to the skillet and toss everything together, adding reserved pasta water as needed to loosen the sauce. Stir in the chopped basil, red pepper flakes, salt, and black pepper.
Serving
- 7
Plate and Serve
Divide the seafood pasta among serving plates. Garnish with additional fresh basil if desired and serve immediately.
