Preparation
- 1
Prepare the Vanilla Base
In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the heavy cream, whole milk, granulated sugar, vanilla extract, and a pinch of salt until the sugar is completely dissolved. This will be your vanilla soft serve base.
- 2
Prepare the Chocolate Base
In another bowl, combine the heavy cream, whole milk, granulated sugar, Dutch cocoa powder, and a pinch of salt. Whisk until the sugar and cocoa are fully dissolved, creating your chocolate soft serve base.
- 3
Chill the Mixtures
Cover both mixtures and refrigerate for at least 1 hour, or until the mixtures are well chilled.
- 4
Churn the Mixture
Once chilled, pour the vanilla base into an ice cream maker and churn according to the manufacturer’s instructions. Repeat with the chocolate base.
- 5
Serve as Swirl or Individual Flavors
If serving as a swirl, alternate scoops of vanilla and chocolate soft serve into cups or cones for a delightful presentation. Otherwise, serve each flavor separately.
- 6
Enjoy!
Serve immediately for a soft serve texture, or freeze for a firmer texture before serving.
