Method

Brewing the Tea

  1. 1

    Measure the Water

Start by measuring 1 cup of fresh, filtered water. It's important to use good quality water for the best flavor.

  2. 2

    Heat the Water

Pour the water into a kettle and heat it until it reaches a temperature of about 160°F to 180°F (70°C to 80°C). Avoid boiling the water as it can burn the delicate tea leaves.

  3. 3

    Add the Tea Leaves

Once the water is heated, add 2 teaspoons of Japanese green tea leaves to a teapot or a cup.

  4. 4

    Pour the Water

Carefully pour the hot water over the tea leaves in the teapot or cup.

  5. 5

    Steep the Tea

Let the tea steep for about 2 to 3 minutes. Adjust the steeping time according to your taste preference; longer steeping will result in a stronger flavor.

  6. 6

    Strain and Serve

After steeping, strain the tea leaves using a fine mesh strainer or simply remove the tea leaves if using a tea infuser. Pour the tea into cups.

  7. 7

    Add Optional Ingredients

If desired, add honey or sugar to taste for sweetness, and lemon slices for a refreshing citrus note.
