Mashed Potatoes

Method

Onion Rings

  1. 1

    Prepare the Onions

Peel and slice the onions into 1/4 inch thick rings. Separate the rings and set aside.

  2. 2

    Make the Batter

In a bowl, whisk together flour, cornstarch, baking powder, salt, and black pepper. Gradually add cold water to form a smooth batter.

  3. 3

    Fry the Onion Rings

Heat vegetable oil in a deep pot over medium-high heat. Dip onion rings in the batter and fry until golden brown. Remove and drain on paper towels.

Mashed Potatoes

  1. 4

    Cook the Potatoes

Peel and chop the potatoes into chunks. Boil in salted water until tender, about 15-20 minutes.

  2. 5

    Mash the Potatoes

Drain the potatoes and return to the pot. Add butter, milk, salt, and black pepper. Mash until smooth and creamy.

Fries

  1. 6

    Prepare the Potatoes

Wash and cut the potatoes into thin strips.

  2. 7

    Fry the Potatoes

Heat vegetable oil in a deep fryer or heavy pot. Fry the potato strips in batches until golden and crispy. Remove and drain on paper towels. Sprinkle with salt.
