Fried Chicken Ingredients
Method
Fried Chicken Preparation
- 1
Marinate the Chicken
In a bowl, combine the buttermilk, salt, black pepper, paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, and cayenne pepper. Add the chicken pieces and ensure they are fully submerged. Cover and refrigerate for at least 2 hours or overnight for best results.
- 2
Prepare the Coating
In a separate bowl, mix the all-purpose flour with a pinch of salt and pepper for additional flavor.
- 3
Dredge the Chicken
Remove the chicken from the buttermilk marinade, allowing excess to drip off. Dredge each piece in the flour mixture, ensuring an even coating. Shake off any excess flour.
- 4
Heat the Oil
In a deep skillet or fryer, heat vegetable oil over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C).
- 5
Fry the Chicken
Carefully add the coated chicken pieces to the hot oil. Fry for about 10-15 minutes, turning occasionally, until the chicken is golden brown and cooked through (internal temperature should reach 165°F or 75°C).
- 6
Drain and Serve
Remove the fried chicken from the oil and place it on a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil. Serve hot and enjoy your crispy fried chicken.
