Slice the onion into thin rings. In a skillet, melt 1 tablespoon of butter over medium heat, add the sliced onions, and sauté until they are caramelized, about 10-15 minutes. Set aside.

In a bowl, combine the ground beef, Worcestershire sauce, salt, black pepper, and garlic powder. Form into two patties. In the same skillet, add another tablespoon of butter and cook the patties over medium-high heat for about 4-5 minutes on each side, until they are cooked to your desired doneness. Place a slice of Swiss cheese on each patty during the last minute of cooking to melt.
