Entrees

  1. 1

    Prepare the Prime Rib

Start by letting the prime rib come to room temperature for about 30 minutes before cooking. This helps it cook evenly.

  2. 2

    Season the Meat

Rub the prime rib with olive oil, then season generously with salt, black pepper, and garlic powder on all sides.

  3. 3

    Sear the Prime Rib

Preheat your oven to 450°F (230°C). Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the prime rib and sear until browned on all sides (about 2-3 minutes per side).

  4. 4

    Add Fresh Herbs

Once seared, place the fresh rosemary sprigs on top of the prime rib for added flavor.

  5. 5

    Roast in the Oven

Transfer the seared prime rib to a roasting pan and place it in the preheated oven. Roast for 20 minutes, then reduce the temperature to 325°F (160°C) and continue roasting for an additional 40-50 minutes or until the internal temperature reaches your desired doneness (130°F for medium-rare).

  6. 6

    Rest the Meat

Remove the prime rib from the oven and let it rest for at least 15 minutes before slicing. This allows the juices to redistribute.

  7. 7

    Make the Gravy

In a small saucepan, combine the beef broth and water. In a separate small bowl, mix the cornstarch with the water until smooth. Bring the broth to a gentle simmer, then whisk in the cornstarch mixture to thicken the gravy. Cook for 2-3 minutes until thickened.

  8. 8

    Serve

Slice the prime rib and serve it with the gravy on the side.
