Method

Directions

  1. 1

    Prepare the Wild Rice

Rinse the wild rice under cold water to remove any debris. Drain well.

  2. 2

    Sauté the Vegetables

In a large pot, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the chopped onion, diced carrot, and diced celery. Sauté for about 5-7 minutes until the vegetables are softened.

  3. 3

    Add Garlic and Seasonings

Add the minced garlic, dried thyme, salt, and black pepper to the pot. Sauté for an additional 1-2 minutes until the garlic is fragrant.

  4. 4

    Combine Ingredients

Stir in the rinsed wild rice, followed by the vegetable broth. Bring the mixture to a boil.

  5. 5

    Simmer the Pilaf

Once boiling, reduce the heat to low, cover the pot, and let it simmer for about 45-50 minutes until the rice is tender and the liquid is absorbed.

  6. 6

    Finish and Serve

Remove the pot from heat. Fluff the rice with a fork, and stir in the chopped fresh parsley and slivered almonds (if using). Serve warm.
